These songs were written in Lexington, Kentucky in Hedges' former apartment during the writing sessions for the full length album Curvature. These are perhaps his most intimate and revealing recordings to date. Recorded using primarily a built-in microphone on an old laptop, a childhood keyboard, and an acoustic guitar, all the attention is drawn to Hedges soulful voice and his surprising, intimate lyrics. In the spirit of Bruce Springsteen's Nebraska, this collection of songs works precisely because they are raw, off-the-cuff, and revealing. In contrast to the slick production of his solo record Curvature and his work with July For Kings, this is Hedges at his most fragile.
